Itinerary Details

Day 1
Upon arrival at the Entebbe airport we are met by a Kibo Slopes Safaris representative for briefing and transfer to the Lake Victoria Serena Hotel. Rooms at the hotel here are elegantly presented in a fusion of international and Ugandan style. Guests will make their own dinner arrangements on this day.

Day 2
After breakfast, we take a quick sightseeing tour of Entebbe and embark on a 5 to 6 hour drive to Kibale Forest. The journey takes us past the outskirts of Kampala through a typical Ugandan countryside with evergreen small scale Farmland to Fort Portal on the Slopes of the Ruwenzori Mountains. We arrive in this commercial center in Uganda’s tea growing zone just in time for a late lunch. After a stroll through this scenic historical town we drive to our lodge in the Kibale Forest Reserve for our dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3
After breakfast, we venture into the Kibale Forest National Park which hosts over 10 species of primates the main attraction being the Chimpanzees. A guide will provide detailed explanations not only on primates, but also on the forest's fauna and flora. This 4hour hike is sure to be informative, enjoyable and is excellent for viewing bird life and primates in close quarters. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay will be at our Lodge.

Day 4
We check out of our lodge after breakfast for a drive to the Queen Elizabeth National park. As we approach Kasese town, the majestic Ruwenzori Mountains can be seen further west in clear skies. We shall cross the Equator before arriving at the Mweya Safari Lodge for lunch. After a little afternoon siesta, we proceed with afternoon game drives in the queen Elizabeth National park. This location overlooks the famous Kazinga Channel. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 5
Today we explore Queen Elizabeth National park with morning and afternoon activities including game drives and a boat ride on the Kazinga Chanel. The wildlife viewing experience includes the highest concentration of hippos in Africa. On the shores of the channel which connects Lake Edward and Lake George, there are Buffaloes, Elephants, Crocodiles, countless birds, and plenty of Plains Game. Besides being pleasant and relaxing, a boat ride on the on the Kazinga Channel is a good opportunity to take some great pictures. Dinner and overnight stay will once again be at the Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 6
Today we change location to Lake Mburo National Park. The 3 to 4 hour drive takes us to the Arcadia Cottages in the park just in time for lunch. Lake Mburu is an extensive area of wetland, rolling hills, grassy woodlands and grassy valleys supporting a vast wealth of wildlife. Among the various species of mammals are Zebras, Impala, Buffaloes and birds such as Bill Stork. Besides game drives, optional activities include guided game walks and a motorboat excursion on the lake. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the Arcadia Cottages.

Day 7
After breakfast we leave to a drive some 2-3 hours through typical small holding farmlands to the Uganda/Tanzania border point of Mutukula. After going through the Customs and Immigration clearance we drive for another 100km on to Bukoba town on the shores of Lake Victoria. We arrive at the picturesque town of Bukoba on the shores of Victoria for a late lunch. We have the afternoon to explore the town, have an early dinner so as to check in to the MV Victoria ferry (sails on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 21.00hrs). The overnight sail takes us to Mwanza Port at approximately 7.00 am. There is a restaurant and bar onboard the sleeper ferry. Accommodation is in clean basic cabins which have common bathrooms.

Day 8
We are picked up at the Mwanza Port by out Tanzanian driver/guide and proceed for breakfast at a restaurant in town. After a short sightseeing tour of the city we proceed to the Speke Bay Hotel located on the south-eastern shores of Lake Victoria, close to the Serengeti National Park arriving for check in before lunch. We will have a leisurely afternoon before dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 9
After breakfast, we leave the scenic hotel and drive with packed lunch through the Ndabaka Gate to the Serengeti. The Serengeti is the world’s most renowned wildlife reserve with and area of 15000 sqkm. It is home not only to the “Big Five” but numerous species of plains game and a wide range of bird species. With game drives en-route we arrive at the Seronera area at lunch time. After a lunch stop, we continue with our game drives and arrive at the Serengeti Eco Lodge Africa in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10
Today starts early in the morning with a full day game drive in the “endless plains” the Maasai name for Serengeti. Our dreams of watching lions hunt numerous wildebeests and gazelles may become a reality. With packed lunch we have a good opportunity to explore settings of the famous documentary “The Serengeti Shall Not Die”. Dinner and overnight stay will once again be at the lodge.

Day 11
After breakfast, we leave with lunch boxes for Isebania, the Kenyan/Tanzanian border post. Once in Kenya, we drive to the traverse densely populated hilly areas where the main economic activity is intensive small scale agriculture. We re-enter the extended Serengeti- Mara ecosystem at the Ololo Gate. In the afternoon, we arrive at the Mara Siria camp for check in and an evening at leisure before dinner and overnight stay. If time allows we can opt for a guided Nature Walk with the camp’s resident Maasai Naturalist.

Day 12
After breakfast we proceed for our first game drive in the western area of the Mara and return to the camp for lunch. After lunch we check out of the lodge and drive with game drives en route to the Ashnil Mara camp located on the banks of the Mara River in central Maasai Mara. We arrive in the late afternoon at the camp and with some luck might have already encountered the Big Five today. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the Ashnil Mara Camp.

Day 13
Today we use the entire full day exploring the Mara. We can opt to leave in the morning with packed lunch or return to the camp for lunch. Our experienced driver/ guide will advise us on the best option depending on the location of the game. This day also presents the opportunity to take a balloon ride above the rolling plains including a bush breakfast in the plains. This can be arranged at the reception at the lodge on the previous day. It is an unforgettable experience due to its spectacular and breathtaking nature. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the Mara Ashnil Camp.

Day 14
After this great Safari experience it is time to say goodbye to the Mara. We leave the Mara and head for Nairobi with lunch on the way and one last photo stop at the scenic Rift Valley view point on the escarpment. We arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon where, depending on our international departure schedule we shall have an optional city tour and dinner before being dropped off at the airport for onward travel arrangements.
